Tapping transformed my life in 2009. I began using it both personally and with clients, and I was continually amazed by the results. Over the years, tapping has gained recognition as an evidence-based technique and is now widely utilized by coaches worldwide. However, it remains underutilized in the field of behavioral health. I launched live training classes in 2023 to teach behavioral health professionals how to integrate tapping into their practices. Building on that success, I am now expanding to offer on-demand virtual classes, as well as shorter live training sessions.
What is Somatic Tapping?
The basic idea behind somatic tapping is that emotional problems and physical symptoms are caused by disruptions in the body’s energy system. Tapping on specific points on the body’s meridian system aims to correct these energy disruptions. This helps to restore balance to the body. Through advances in technology in neural imaging brain studies, we now know this is a somatic technique. The engagement of touch and auditory stimuli activates the amygdala, the part of the brain which stores emotions and memories.
Tapping can be used for a wide variety of issues. This includes anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD, chronic pain, weight loss, and addiction. It is often used in conjunction with other therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based therapy. Somatic Tapping training can help your clients.
This was a great workshop and added another tool to my therapy box. I enjoyed being able to practice and experience tapping during the practicums, and the practice added to my comfort of using it immediately with clients.

Why train in Somatic Tapping?
Many medical professionals are always looking for new and effective techniques to help their clients, and Somatic Tapping can be a valuable addition to their toolbox. The evidence-based tapping quickly reduces the intensity of emotions and physical pain. It is a powerful tool, improving the overall well-being of clients. Helping someone reduce physical or emotional pain from a SUDS of 10 down to a 7 or less can be life changing for the client.
Tapping provides a number of benefits for the medical professionals who use it. Somatic Tapping can help professionals to reduce their own levels of vicarious trauma or secondary traumatic stress. This is important for those working in high-stress environments, such as trauma centers or emergency rooms.
Overall, Somatic Tapping can be a valuable tool for medical professionals who are looking to expand their skill sets and improve the outcomes for their clients. With its evidence-based approach and rapid results, Tapping can help professionals to more effectively treat a wide range of conditions and provide better care for their clients.
Tapping bridges the gap between talk therapy and somatic healing, offering your clients a holistic path to inner wellness
Tapping is Evidence-Based
A growing body of research supports the effectiveness of tapping for a range of mental and physical health issues. Some studies show that tapping is as effective or more effective than traditional talk therapies. It can lead to significant improvements in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
For example, a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease found that tapping was significantly more effective than cognitive-behavioral therapy for reducing symptoms of PTSD in veterans. Another study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology showed that tapping was effective in reducing symptoms of depression in a group of college students.
Although more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms behind tapping and determine its effectiveness for different populations and conditions, existing evidence demonstrates that it is a promising, evidence-based technique for improving emotional and physical well-being.
Tapping can be Fast
One of the advantages of Tapping is that it can produce rapid results for many individuals. The technique works by tapping into the body’s natural healing processes. This can lead to rapid and profound changes in emotions and physical sensations.
The effectiveness of tapping can vary depending on the individual or nature of the issue being addressed. Effectiveness can vary based on the skill level of the practitioner using the method. Some people may experience rapid relief from symptoms after just one or two rounds of tapping. Others may require more extensive treatment.
Tapping can be a powerful tool for managing emotions and reducing physical pain. It is not a panacea and may not be effective for everyone or every condition. As with any therapy, it’s important to work with a trained and licensed professional to ensure that you are using the technique safely and effectively.
Why train with Diana Sturm of Somatic Tapping&?
Diana Sturm first received training from Gary Craig, the Founder of the Emotional Freedom Technique. Later she received additional training through EFT Universe and the Guild of Energists (GOE). She completed the Train the Trainer course with the GOE. All of these trainings were focused on coaches providing help to coaching clients. Based on her work in clinical mental health counseling, she created her own method utilizing tapping and integrating in somatic steps to allow clients to release the emotional charges associated with upsetting events and trauma. Initially she offered live 2-day classes. But to accommodate people with a variety of time schedules, she developed four online training courses. These courses take the therapist from learning how to use tapping for relaxation in the basic introductory class to the final class which trains on using tapping to clear the emotions associated with trauma.
Diana’s background with trainings from the major organizations in the tapping world along with her Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, make her the ideal trainer for behavioral health specialists who want to learn how to use tapping with their clients.
